The careful cultivation in the patrilineal vineyards and in the up-to-the mountain dry stone terraces by the experienced winegrowers of the Cooperative of Samos, the high drainage soil favored by a diverse microclimate and then the careful winemaking, have internationally highlighted the wines of the UWC Samos.
The two wines – “flagships”, the fragrant and complex “High Peaks” and the highly balanced and sweet vin de liqueur “Samos Vin Doux”, justified the great preference of consumers internationally and were honored with two more Gold medals in the prestigious competition Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada 2021.
The cooperative of Samos, emerged among the few wineries that saw two of their wines honored and in fact, among a tough competition between 1,910 wines, coming from 32 countries. The wines were carefully tested by a professional jury of 55 distinguished oenologists for four days, in accordance with the international standards of the OIV (International Organization of Vine and wine) and Vinofed (World Federation of international wine competitions).
Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada has emerged as the largest tasting competition outside Europe, with 28 continuous years of presence in the wine industry.
The important distinction of the Gold Award for Samos Vin Doux, the sweet wine “ambassador” of the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperative of Samos that is exported to Canada for 4 decades, triumphantly confirms the dynamics and quality of the variety of white Muscat of Samos.
Rich body, excellent balance, explosions of aromas in the nose and mouth, are just some of the quality characteristics of Samos Vin Doux that not only bring it to the first place in sales in sweet wines in Greece but also travel it to over 25 countries worldwide!
“High Peaks” is the White, dry and incomparable wine of the UWC Samos that, with its consistent quality and excellent quality characteristics, satisfies even the most demanding consumer. In the nose we discover aromas of flowers and fruits, such as pear, peach, melon. It has high acidity and a very good aftertaste, characteristics that give the “High Peaks” the ability to open a very wide palette of taste combinations.
