This was an incredible year for the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos, since its wines were awarded with many distinctions. The tireless efforts of the island’s wine producers and the Cooperation’s vine growers to offer in Greece and abroad high quality wines were rewarded.
In particular, in May, Samos Anthemis (2011) was awarded with the gold prize and Samos Nectar (2010) with the silver distinction in the 24th international competition Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. The special awards of those two wines, among 9.080 different wines from 50 countries, reinforce the world renowned and outmost position of the refined wines produced by the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos.
In June, in the competition Decanter 2017, 5 wines by the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos were distinguished: Samos Anthemis, Samos Nectar, Samos Vin Doux, Samos Grand Cru and Psiles Korfes, highly distinguished among over 17.000 wine etiquettes from all over the world. The sweet Samos Nectar 2010 with the grade 90/100 was awarded with silver medal. The bronze medal was awarded to Samos Grand Cru with the grade 89/100, Samos Anthemis 2011 with the grade 88/100 and, of course, Samos Vin Doux 2016 with the grade 87/100. In the dry wine category, the excellent white wine Psiles Korfes 2016 gained distinction with the grade 88/100.
July was the month of Gold medals, since 2 “Great Gold” medals were awarded to the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos in the competition Mondial des Vins Extremes 2017, held in Italy from 6 to 8 July 2017. 306 vineries from 15 different countries with 740 wine etiquettes by mountainous regions or precipitate slopes and small islands took part in this international competition. Samos Anthemis 2011 and Samos Nectar 2010 climbed up the highest stand of classification, being deservedly awarded with 2 “Great Gold” medals, by underlining for once more the traditional cultivation of the white small-grape Moschato in the mountainous and semi-mountainous terraces of the border island of Samos.
In July, the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos was awarded with another special distinction. The Group UNESCO Piraeus and Islands awarded to the Cooperation an award plague during the 3rd Gastronomy and Civilization Festival that took place in the island. The award to the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos underlined the preservation of the traditional Samian vineyard, the contribution to the Greek wine and the social, financial and cultural progress of the land.
All those unique awards and distinctions for the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos reveal the passion and the constant effort of the vine growers who constitute integral part of the Winemaking Association.

Cooperation’s Profile:
The Cooperation of Samos was established in 1934 and ever since it gathers, bottles and trades almost the entire production of the island’s vine growers. The Samian wine, especially the sweet wine, constitutes one of the main ambassadors of Greece abroad, with exports to countries, like France – the biggest export market for the Cooperation – and 22 more countries.
The wine production of Samos with sweet and dry wines offers unique taste and quality, since it accumulates all the gustatory particularities of cultivation in altimeter terraces. The dry wines of the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos, Psiles Korfes, Golden Samena, Aegean Breeze and Samena, with their crystal color and intense fruity flavors, take us to an exciting world of tastes. Moreover, the traditional and favorite taste of the sweet Samian wine is accentuated by its sweet wines, Samos Grand Cru, Samos Nectar, Samos Anthemis and Samos Vin Doux, that prepare us for tasteful trips, accompanied by various cooked dishes with fruits and deserts.
In March 2016, the strategic alliance between the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperation of Samos and Greek Wine Cellars was launched. This collaboration is crucial for the future trade revelation of the multi-awarded Samian wine and the boosting of its trade and export to the local and international market.
