Samos Anthemis 2012, the 5-year aged sweet wine of the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperative of Samos, not only did it obtain a Gold Medal in the Muscats du Monde 2018 competition (Muscats of the World) but it was also included in the list of the “Top 10 Best Muscats du Monde 2018”
The competition takes place every year in France and only Muscats are allowed to participate. This year Muscats from 25 countries were submitted. The viticulture in Samos is directly linked to the White Muscat from which the internationally known sweet wines of the Cooperative are produced.
Being listed in the Top 10 Best also placed Greece in the top 10 best wine producing countries. Such a distinction confirms the superiority of the Samos Muscat and rewards the hard work that is involved in the daily cultivation of the vineyards by the producers of the Cooperative.
Samos Anthemis is aged 5 years in oak barrels. It presents a highly complex and profound bouquet that has been built layer by layer. In the mouth, its wonderful balance maintains almost intact the primal freshness and the noble aromas of Muscat with the tertiary aromas of aging. It is perfectly matched with haute confiserie creations with a strong sweet taste and aromatic complexity. Also with traditional oven sweets, aged yellow cheeses, tarts and sweets with dried nuts, fruit tarts, foie gras with sweet quince or fig, handmade ice cream. On its own, after the end of a dinner, it delightfully accompanies a light cigar. Served at 12-14ο C.
